Light/Lines
The first special edition from House of LAV combines three videos (here presented in a single cut) with a work created specifically for it by Ambify Production / Christian Skoglund completely plastic free Clothing made from undyed and unbleached material, along with photographs of the clothing featuring projections of various stills from the videos.
The three videos where the inspiration for the design and material of the clothing. For me it was of great importance to create plain but versatile unique pieces. In addition I soley considered undyed as well as unbleached and linearly structured organic fabrics which I then sewed together with undyed and unbleached organic cotton thread. The elastic bands I used were fabricated by a small Austrian family-run business from organic cotton and natural caoutchouc. After finishing the clothing we projected stills from the videos onto them which both highlighted the structure of the material and confronted the pieces with their original source of inspiration, thus created new spaces.
The explicitly for this project produced music by Christian Skoglund perfectly reflects the different dynamics, textures and spaces of not only the videos, but also the clothing and photos. In its mutlifaceted nature, it consistently finds common motives and structures which uniquely renders the composition to a simultaneously heterogeneous as well as homogeneous piece.
