Biostoffe is a wonderful Viennese shop for eco fabrics, fabric by the metre and sewing accessories – and one of my favourite go-to places for sustainable materials.

The company was founded in 2013 by Romana and Bernhard Masson and comprises, alongside the fabric shop in Vienna's Ottakring district, also a online shop and a blog on topics relating to environment and sustainability.

All fabrics and sewing accessories come from environmentally, animal and human-friendly, fair production – in compliance with strict, verified social standards. The raw materials come from controlled organic farming, and production is largely carried out to GOTS standard.

The extensive range includes a wide variety of fabrics: jersey, modal, tencel, linen, hemp and cotton fabrics and much more – from decorative fabrics to upholstery fabrics and clothing fabrics through to special children's fabrics.
